Growing Startups through Alberta Yield Ag and Food Tech Advisory Program

Published: Monday, March 1st, 2021

Bioenterprise, TEC Edmonton and Platform Calgary are excited to kick-off the first cohort of Alberta Yield, a program designed for Alberta-based innovation-driven agricultural technology or agri-food ventures. Alberta Yield supports founders and leaders, helping them establish their product or service, increase their networks, and access investment.

Working collaboratively with seasoned advisors, 13 agriculture and food technology startup founders will gain skills in customer development, market validation, increasing sales, refining business models and improving investor readiness. The program gives startups access to a wealth of knowledge from entrepreneurs-in-residence, mentors, technical experts and customized business advisory services. By participating in Alberta Yield, startups will gain the skills and confidence to launch and grow their businesses.

We’re thrilled to welcome 13 incredible companies to the inaugural cohort, including:

Algi creates delicious, purpose driven food products centred around spirulina algae.

With a long history of agriculture in our province, this program will help Alberta continue to innovate — allowing agriculture ventures to grow and thrive here. By joining forces, Platform Calgary, Bioenterprise and TEC Edmonton are able to offer startups a wide breadth of knowledge and resources that wouldn’t be possible individually.

One-on-one coaching and mentorship opportunities are also available for startups and delivered by TEC Edmonton. Applications are accepted continuously and limited to five participants at any one time. Successful applicants will be added to a waiting list and sequentially rotated into this stream as mentor availability permits.
