Participants Selected for Reverb New Music Tech Startup Accelerator

Platform Calgary is a non-profit, member based organization. Our mandate is to bring together the resources of Calgary's tech ecosystem to help startups launch and grow at every step of their journey, from ideation through to scale.

More about Platform Calgary

Seven music and sound technology startups will be part of the inaugural class of Reverb this fall—an industry-specific startup accelerator hosted by Platform Calgary in partnership with the National Music Centre (NMC), and the Embassy of France in Canada. From Calgary’s Curbside Concerts to an electronic instrument-building company from France, a range of participants will receive dedicated mentorship, peer learning, and class work, to gain new skills, tools, and strategies to scale their business in music tech.

“Reverb is an excellent example of the unique collaboration that is at the heart of our innovation community in Calgary,” said Dr. Terry Rock, CEO of Platform Calgary. “By combining the expertise and resources of Platform Calgary, the National Music Centre, and the Embassy of France in Canada, we’re giving sound and music tech startup founders exactly what they need to succeed right here in Calgary. These are some of the high quality jobs and businesses that will define our future economy.”

Over the course of four weeks, each participant will be guided by a dedicated advisor as they complete more than forty hours of course-based programming. Reverb is designed to help startup founders prioritize and focus on business activities with the intent to establish a 12 to 18-month growth roadmap for their new business.

“This partnership aligns with the efforts of National Music Centre and West Anthem to build stronger music-friendly cities in Alberta,” said Andrew Mosker, President and CEO, National Music Centre and Co-Founder and Chair, West Anthem. “It's an innovative new program that brings international, national, and local professionals together to highlight how music and technology can become a new catalyst for diversifying the music ecosystem in our home province of Alberta.”

Reverb is the result of an ongoing collaboration with the Embassy of France in Canada and Platform Calgary. Earlier this year, Platform Calgary began working with Enterprising Culture, an international business acceleration program operated through the Embassy of France in Canada. This partnership brings together French and Canadian early-stage creative sector tech startups to learn from each other and about each country's respective innovation ecosystems and markets.

“The Reverb program provides a great opportunity for French entrepreneurs to better understand the Canadian market, and helps Canadian entrepreneurs develop French connections. The end result will be strong new creative businesses with opportunities in both France and Canada,” said Nicolas Baudouin, Consul General of France in Vancouver. “This mutually beneficial partnership allows us to share ideas and best practices so that together we can grow the cultural and creative industries and give our innovation ecosystems international exposure.”
