Platform Calgary is a non-profit, member based organization. Our mandate is to bring together the resources of Calgary's tech ecosystem to help startups launch and grow at every step of their journey, from ideation through to scale.
More about Platform CalgaryFrom June 21st - 23rd, 58 aspiring entrepreneurs, designers, developers, and entrepreneurially-curious folks gathered at the Platform Innovation Centre for Techstars Startup Weekend.
Techstars Startup Weekend is a hackathon – bringing people together to build their out-of-the-box ideas! Over a fun-filled 54 hours, participants pitched 26 ideas, teamed up, and brought 12 startup ideas to life.
It’s all about creativity, teamwork, and turning ideas into action! Participants made new connections, found mentors, and some maybe even met their future business partner.
At the end of the weekend, the teams pitched their ideas to a panel of judges, and these three teams were the winners:

1. Genify: Improving the Secondary Care workflow for cardiovascular care with software that tracks relevant medical history, can onboard patiences and improves the patient/specialist hand off process through data tracking features, user reports and on-care plans.
“It was full of excitement, anxiety and passion working on an idea that is close to heart. Hundreds of heart to heart conversations and storytelling later I made so many genuine friends who are equally passionate entrepreneurs.” - Ravi Santosh, Startup Weekend participant

2. Help A Startup Out: A two-sided community that connects first-time entrepreneurs looking to validate and de-risk their ideas.
“Together, everyone at Techstars Weekend pushed boundaries and achieved remarkable results in a short timeframe.” - Brad Brunton, Startup Weekend participant

3. LawyerMatch: AI-Driven lawyer matching with preferred pricing and in-person services, making legal resources more accessible.
This weekend would not have been possible without the generosity of: Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking, University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering, Alberta Innovates and the City of Calgary!
An additional thank you to the amazing judges, coaches, facilitators and panelists for their support, mentorship and guidance.
