Terms of Service and Occupancy

This Agreement is a legal agreement between Platform Calgary (the "Organization") and you (the "Member") regarding your use of our facilities at 407 - 9th Avenue SE, Calgary, and the various mentorship and innovation services we provide. By accessing our services or building, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Everyday language summaries on each header and within the T&Cs are provided for convenience only and are not legally binding. Please read the entire Agreement for a complete picture of the terms. This Agreement governs your activities as a Client, and ours as a Service Provider.

The parties agree as follows:

1. Our Services & Your Membership

We provide a range of support including mentorship, business planning advice, events, talent initiatives, and access to perks and discounts, and bookable amenities. Your membership is for an initial term of one (1) year

Fees: Membership dues and access fees must be paid to receive services.

Payment: Fees are due on your Effective Date and can be paid via credit card on the Member portal.

Late Payments: If an invoice is not paid within 30 days, your membership may be revoked.

What This Means: We’re here to help you grow your tech company through coaching and community. In exchange, you agree to pay your membership fees on time.

2. Building Access & The Platform App

Members get non-exclusive access to the Innovation Centre during designated hours.

Public Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Member Hours: 7:30 am – 8:00 pm (Mon-Fri) and 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (Sat).

The App: You will use the Platform App to enter the building. You cannot give your app access to anyone else or use it to remotely unlock doors for others.

Security: You must ensure doors lock behind you and never "tailgate" or let unapproved people into secured areas.

What This Means: You have great access to the space, but security is a team effort. Use the app for yourself only, and don't let strangers in behind you.

3. Professional Conduct & Workspace Rules

We strive to maintain a safe, professional, and productive environment.

Code of Conduct: We have a Zero Tolerance Policy for abuse or disrespect toward staff and stakeholders. You must also adhere to the Rainforest Alberta social contract. ● Prohibited Items: No weapons, no open flames (candles/space heaters), and no illegal drugs or unauthorized alcohol.

Dogs: We are dog-friendly! However, your dog must be registered, vaccinated, and house-trained. Dogs are not allowed in carpeted areas or the Cafe.

What This Means: Be kind, respectful to others, and professional. Leave the candles and weapons at home! You can bring your dog, but they need to be registered with Platform, and stay off the carpets.

4. Intellectual Property (IP)

Our IP: Platform Calgary owns its name, logos, and materials provided during services.

Your IP: You retain full ownership of any work product you create while using our services.

What This Means: What’s ours is ours, and what’s yours is yours. We won't claim ownership of the next big thing you build here.

5. Privacy & Safety

CCTV: For your safety, the Innovation Centre is monitored 24/7 by CCTV. By entering, you consent to being recorded.

Confidentiality: Both parties agree to keep sensitive business information shared between us confidential.

Public Space: Remember, this is a shared space. We cannot guarantee total privacy unless you book a private meeting room.

What This Means: We use cameras to keep the building safe, and we’ll keep your business secrets safe. Since it’s a coworking hub, use a private room if you’re discussing something top-secret.

6. Liability & "The Catch"

Assumption of Risk: You understand that participating in a shared innovation center involves some risks, and you choose to participate voluntarily.

Indemnity: You agree to hold Platform Calgary harmless from claims or damages resulting from your breach of this agreement or your actions in the space. ● Parking: We offer a parking perk through Calgary Parking, but we aren't responsible for any tickets or damages to your vehicle.

What This Means: We provide the platform, but you are responsible for your own actions and belongings. If you get a parking ticket, you’ll need to follow up with CPA directly.

7. Termination

Either party can end this agreement with 30 days' written notice. However, Platform Calgary may terminate your membership immediately if you breach this agreement or bring the Organization into disrepute.

What This Means: We hope you stay, but either of us can walk away with a month's notice. If you break the rules, we may have to ask you to leave immediately.

8. Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct: At Platform Calgary, we’re all about fostering a supportive, inclusive, and downright awesome community. Whether you're a founder, startup staff, investor, partner, coach, or part of the Platform Calgary team, we believe that mutual respect and kindness are key ingredients to success.
