As an integral part of this ecosystem, Innovate Calgary manages the UCeed startup investment funds, the largest university-based fund of its kind in Canada. UCeed is a group of early-stage investment funds accelerating startup companies to advance problem-solving research, create jobs and fuel the economy. The UCeed Social Impact Fund prioritizes to opportunities that address pressing local and international issues. This includes poverty alleviation, education, financial inclusion, health and wellness. Uceed also focuses on start ups that promote social, gender and economic equity, and innovation in the arts and cultural sectors. Why it matters? The social finance ecosystem in Canada, a market valued at more than $20 billion, plays a key role in the seismic shift needed to re-imagine capital for a sustainable and equitable future. Offering a learning space, a forum for leaders and teams to connect, gain knowledge, and draw on insights for action are the intentions for the 2024 Social Finance Forum as we enter this new era of capital for impact. Through social finance, we can accelerate solutions by creatively mobilizing private, public, community, and philanthropic capital. Join us.
