We understand that the early stages of starting or joining a startup can be daunting, but with the support and resources provided by Startup 101, you’ll gain the knowledge, tools, and connections needed to navigate the startup landscape with confidence.

Startup 101 is for you if…

• You have an idea for a business and want tangible steps to get started
• You’re curious about what support is available to you, and how to use it
• You’re overwhelmed by startup lingo (MVP who?)

What to Expect
You can expect experience that will equip you with the skills, knowledge, and connections you need to dive confidently into the startup world. From understanding the entrepreneurial landscape, to crafting impactful elevator pitches and networking with peers; Startup 101 includes the insight needed to prepare you for becoming a founder, working with a startup and more.

Startup 101 is a three-hour course, broken down into three segments:

• Startup Fundamentals
• The Problem, Customer Discovery and an Elevator Pitch
• Calgary Startup Community and Resources.

After attending Startup 101 you will:

• Understand what a startup is
• Identify the difference between a startup vs small business vs scaleup
• Start to articulate the problem using a problem statement
• Introduction to customer discovery and tips to start talking to your target audience
• Talk about you and your idea by building an elevator pitch
• Navigate the Calgary startup community
